Cloves (Whole)

Cloves are the dried, unopened flower buds of a small evergreen tree. McCORMICK Cloves Whole has a strong sweet, pungent flavour and warming aroma. Cloves are used in both sweet and savoury dishes. Add cloves to a traditional apple pie, or stick whole cloves into roast hams or to flavour stock.

Usage Ideas

Cloves add dramatic flavour to baked desserts and meat dishes. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Add a sweet, spicy flavour to gammon joints. Before cooking, score the flesh and stud with cloves.
  • Add cloves to to pilau rice and bread sauce.
  • Add cloves to mulled wine with cinnamon and coriander seeds.
  • Stud an onion with two or three cloves and add to steak & kidney pie and beef casseroles before cooking.
