Rice Cookers Chinese Special Fried Rice

Make traditional Chinese fried rice at home with McCORMICK Rice Cookers Chinese Special Fried Rice. Made for rice cooking with an authentic blend of garlic, ginger, pepper and salt, the mouthwatering flavours of this signature rice dish combine with vegetables or meat to create a delicious meal or side in minutes.

Rice Cooker Directions

  1. Heat sesame oil in a frying pan and pan-fry bacon then add to the rice cooker insert pot.
  2. Place rice recipe base, 2 cups (500ml) water and soy sauce into the rice cooker insert pot and stir.
  3. Cover with lid and press selector control to COOK (DO NOT REMOVE LID during cooking). Cook until the selector control switches to KEEP WARM. Add peas and replace lid.
  4. Let Stand for 10 minutes with the lid on. Stir through bean sprouts before serving.

Stove Top Directions

  1. Heat sesame oil in a large heavy based, non-stick saucepan. Fry bacon until cooked.
  2. Place rice, recipe base, 3 ½ cups of boiling water and soy sauce into the saucepan.
  3. Bring to the boil, cover with lid and reduce the heat to low for 12-15 minutes. Stir half way through cooking
  4. Stir through peas and let stand for 2-3 minutes. Stir through bean sprouts to serve.

Microwave Directions

  1. Heat sesame oil in a frying pan and pan-fry bacon then add into a 2.75L Microsafe rice cooker or a 2L round glass casserole (without lid).
  2. Place rice recipe base, 2 cups (500ml) water and soy sauce into the microwave container and stir.
  3. Cover with a loose lid or plastic wrap and piece the top with holes. Microwave in a 1100-Watt oven on HIGH for 12 minutes (plastic rice cooker) or for 15 minutes (glass casserole) stirring rice half way through the cooking time. Remove from microwave oven.
  4. Stir through peas and let stand for 2-3 minutes. Stir through bean sprouts to serve.
  5. 750-Watt Microwave Oven cooking times are 16 minutes (plastic rice cooker) or 18 minutes (glass casserole) plus 2 minutes resting time.

Be Creative

Stir through cooked diced prawns and a sliced omelette before serving.
