Portuguese Potato and Gruyere Bake

Portuguese Potato and Gruyere Bake

Ingredients

  • 8 large potatoes, peeled and sliced (approx 5mm thick)
  • 40 g Slow Cookers Portuguese Chicken
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1 cup cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups Gruyere cheese
  • 100 g bacon, diced

Method

  1. Coat the sliced potatoes in the recipe base and layer half of the potatoes into the base of a large baking dish and top with half of the onions.
  2. Mix together the cream and eggs and then pour half of the mixture onto the potatoes. Sprinkle half of the cheese and bacon on top of the potatoes.
  3. Layer the rest of the potatoes and repeat the process then cover. Place in a 180c oven for 1 hour uncovering the potatoes after 40 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

    this is a fabulous supper dish, especialy with a glass of red wine the taste is spicy with just a touch of heat,and it can be eaten on its own or as an accompiament to Steak,or Sausages.,

    Tasted great and was a big hit at the table, however found it took about an extra 15 to 20 mins to cook though. Non the less it will be made again. Easy and tasty.
