Every Day Curry Tips

Every Day Curry Tips

Whipping up a quick and delicious curry is easy when you follow a few of our expert tips:

  • Using a curry powder takes the guesswork out of measuring and mixing your own curry blend.
  • Gently fry curry powder in order to draw out its flavours. Heat butter or oil in a small pan over medium heat on the stove, then place the amount of curry powder that the recipe calls for into the pan. Cook it for 30 seconds, stirring gently, before adding in the rest of the ingredients.
  • Slicing onion? Dry those tears by keeping peeled onions in the fridge for 30 mins before slicing or chopping.
  • Browning meat in batches helps to ensure even cooking.
  • If you are cooking cabbage, add a small piece of ginger for a different and enhanced taste.
  • To prevent potatoes from discolouring after cutting keep the chopped potatoes in water.
  • To prevent white vegetable from turning yellow or orange from the curry mixture, add a few drops of vinegar to the vegetables before adding them to the pot.
  • Not sure if your curry is cooked? A curry is cooked when you can see oils separating and settling on the surface.
