Mustard Tips and Uses
Mustard is a hard working all rounder and can be used to add punch and personality to many a dish. Mustard can be mixed with mayonnaise, combined with oil and vinegar, used in rubs and crumbs, used to dress meat and fish, or added to dips and sauces.
Here are a few easy and creative ways to add flavour with mustard powder:
- Meat rub: Next time you’re preparing a steak for the BBQ or a pork roast, use mustard in a simple rub mixture combined with olive oil, brown sugar and thyme.
- Dips: Mustard can add punch to savoury dips and sauces. Dial up the flavour in your favourite dip recipe or simply add mustard, herbs and spices to a mixture of cream cheese, sour cream, plain yoghurt, or humus.
- Seafood dressing: Mustard is a fantastic partner to seafood, including shellfish and salmon. Try a dressing of mustard, sour cream, lemon, dill and capers.
- Salad dressing: Bring your salad dressings to life with a pinch of mustard added to apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, olive oil or sesame seed oil. Combine with garlic, brown sugar, lemon zest or herbs and spices.
