Cooking Time

Ingredients
  • 1 x bottle store bought Korean BBQ sauce
  • OPTIONAL Homemade Korean style BBQ sauce
  • 1/3 cup (80 mL) soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup (67 g) white sugar
  • 2 tbsp (40 mL) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp gochujang* paste
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp black and or white sesame seeds
  • To serve
  • 4 x skinless chicken thigh fillets, each cut into 3 strips
  • 1 x 85 g sachet McCormick Air Fryer Korean Style Fried Chicken
  • 1 x egg
  • 12 x ready to steam bao buns, frozen
  • remaining black and or white sesame seeds
  • 1 x small bunch of fresh coriander, leaves picked
  • 1-2 Lebanese cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 1 x small red onion, thinly sliced
Directions
  1. Homemade sauce if making - Place the BBQ sauce ingredients in a small saucepan over HIGH heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes or until just thickened. Set aside until ready to serve.
  2. Prepare the chicken as per McCormick Air Fryer Korean Style Fried Chicken packet directions, cooking for 8 -10 minutes.
  3. Steam or microwave frozen bao buns as per pack directions.
  4. Brush the warm chicken with the BBQ sauce (reserve about a quarter of the sauce for serving). Sprinkle the chicken with sesame seeds.
  5. To serve, open each bao bun and spoon a little sauce into the centre. Stuff with coriander leaves, cucumber, and onion slices and a piece of sauced, fried chicken. Serve immediately.
Recipe Tip

No time to make sauce, you can buy Korean sticky BBQ sauce available on the supermarket shelf.

So simple and easy to make if you have a supply of McCormick Air Fryer Korean Style coating in the pantry and bao buns in the freezer.
