A “Twist” on Mac and Cheese

Ingredients
  • 300 g short pasta, cooked for 2 mins less than recommended
  • 2 cups (500 mL) milk  
  • 2 tbsp (40 g) butter 
  • 2 tbsp flour  
  • 1 tsp KEEN'S Mustard Powder
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 2 cups (220 g) tasty cheese, grated
  • 50 g Twisties (cheese twists)
  • ¼ cup (22 g) Parmesan cheese, grated
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 200˚C (180˚C fan forced). Place milk, butter, flour, mustard and garlic in a medium saucepan over a MEDIUM heat and cook stirring constantly for 5-8 minutes or until sauce thickens and is smooth. 
  2. Fold 1 ¾ cups of tasty cheese through the sauce followed by the cooked pasta.  Spoon into a lightly greased oven proof dish.
  3. Place remaining tasty cheese, Parmesan cheese and the Twisties into the bowl of a food processor. Pulse, once or twice, processing until Twisties are roughly crushed. Sprinkle crumb mixture over the mac n cheese.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden and cheesy.
